Beautiful Blue Birds DIY Nest

Springtime is here and I am all about refreshing the decor in the house! Bring on the fresh flowers and birds nests! I love bringing the outside in and decided to make my own version of a pretty blue birds nest. It was a fun and easy project and it turned out SO pretty!!!

Materials

  • Styrofoam Eggs, I purchased these at my local Dollar Store
  • Mint Blue Paint
  • Grey or Brown Paint
  • Sponge Paint Brush
  • Small Paint Brush
  • 6″ Styrofoam Wreath
  • Mossy greens and Tree Foliage, Micheals or Hobby Lobby
  • Glue Gun
  • Rubber Glove

Instructions

Begin by painting your styrofoam eggs using the foam applicator, I used a pretty mint called Country Chic Chalk Paint Icicle, make sure to use long smooth strokes. Let dry for about 20-30 minutes and if needed apply a second coat.

Plug in your glue gun so it is ready when you need it. Using your darker coloured paint, speckle the eggs by dipping the paint brush into the paint and then using a single finger to spray the end of the paint brush at the eggs. Make sure the paint brush is about 6″ away from the eggs to avoid a splatter of to much paint. It helps to wear a rubber glove if you have one as the paint does get under your finger nail. Let the first side dry and then roll over your eggs and do the other side. Repeat until the egg is totally covered. Let dry while you make the nest

This part of the craft is extremely messy so be sure to have it on a tray or placemat for easy clean upUsing the glue gun, apply glue to the wreath in a 3″ zig zag pattern. Press the greens onto the wreath and repeat for the next section until the wreath is covered on top.

Now apply small sections of glue to the sides of the wreath and press on the twig follege along the sides.
