This project may have taken us all summer to get done but it was SO worth the wait! Ever since we decided to put a large deck of the back of the house, I knew that I wanted to have some sort of an outdoor kitchen. I liked the idea of having counter space where you cook/prep outdoors and also because we eat so much seafood I wanted to have a space we could use outdoors to cook it so my house didn’t get smelly. I’m so happy with how this project turned out! Take a peek below.
We purchased a Traeger this past year and loved it but I still felt like it stuck out on the deck with everything else looking so put together. We decided to build a custom cabinet around the smoker with space to store a small BBQ underneath and a electric burner that can come out and sit on the counter when I cooked with a larger stock pot for seafood. I had some old salvaged cabinet doors kicking around that seemed to be about the size we would need and my talented hubby did the rest. We used cedar planks to match the siding on the house so the unit wouldn’t look so out of place and I painted it using Canadian Tire Exterior Premier Paint in Porcelain. The best part was I only had to do one coat of paint! We also needed to cover the Fortis boxes above the smoker but unfortunately the front of the boxes still needed to be visible to they could scan the numbers from our alley. We covered these as much as we could and I am happy with the final look. I feel like the whole space is finally complete! All I need now is for my Virgina Creeper to start climbing up the pergola and this space will be exactly my vision!
